“Metamorphoses (City Bugs). A Series by Josh S. Rose

The City Bugs series came to me wandering around downtown Los Angeles during a critical time in my trajectory as an artist. At the time, I was deep inside the commercial art world, working as a creative director at an agency. Many have felt the push/pull of working in commercial art with outside aspirations, for me this manifested in long walks with my camera trying to envision a way out. Buildings, in the series, represent our structural manifestations of work. The careful reflections and rotations involved detailed post-processing of very high-resolution images in Photoshop - work in and of itself. The idea of turning it all into a bug has Kafka-esque references, exploring further our relationship to work, hierarchy and humanity.
